Steel’s creative side comes out on top at the Made in Steel Awards

Southern Europe’s leading steel conference and exhibition is about talking business and doing business. But the seventh Made In Steel show is also about design and aesthetics

Best Communication, Most Friendly Stand and Best International Stand are the three award categories

Steel slabs and wire rods are definitely in the spotlight, along with flat and long products, tonnes and quality, output, distribution and processing operations. But the next Made In Steel show, taking place from 17 to 19 May, will also be focussing on design, the merging of aesthetics with functionality, and the power of advertising. Small wonder: inside steel’s cold, solid heart beats an unexpectedly creative soul. A soul fired up by the panache on show in the stands of southern Europe’s leading steel conference and exhibition at Milan’s Fieramilano trade fair complex.

Continuing a tradition that began four shows ago, this year’s event will also be staging the Made In Steel Awards. Prizes will be assigned to exhibitors and stand designers for the forcefulness and flair of their message, and for the most effective, ground breaking presentations of their products and services.

There are three award categories: Best Communication Stand, for the most effective advertising effort; Most Friendly Stand, for the most welcoming stand; and Best International Stand, for the stand with the most international flavour. Judging the display booths in this edition is a jury comprised of: Oliviero Baldini, Artistic Director of Made In Steel; Marco Citterio, Board Member of Made In Steel; and Valentina Tavana, the Project Manager of the Conference & Exhibition.

The Made In Steel Awards have been handed out at the three-day steel industry event since 2007. However, it is well worth remembering that while the focus is squarely on steel, a massive creative, advertising and marketing effort goes into staging an event that also encompasses a packed programme of conferences, seminars and workshops. Every one of these aspects plays a major role in forging the steel industry of tomorrow, insights into which can be glimpsed at Made In Steel.
