Innovation and sustainability: Digital Magics and Made in Steel look for startups and SMEs that are capable of bringing change to the steel industry

After the success of ACCIAIO 4.0 (STEEL 4.0), the first Italian call for innovation in the steel industry that was held last September during innovA – The innovation convention for the steel industry, Made in Steel and Digital Magics are proud to launch the contest “Made in Steel 2019 – Steel on stage”. The competition aims at finding new products and services with the right potential to innovate the steel industry and, at the same time, to be environmentally sustainable.

You can submit your application at https://innovation.madeinsteel.it by no later than 14 April 2019. The best startups and SMEs, selected by a panel of experts, are going to have the possibility to talk about ther projects in front of the main European and international steel players at Made in Steel, the leading Conference & Exhibition in southern Europe dedicated to the steel industry, which will take place at fieramilano Rho (Milan, Italy) from 14 to 16 May 2019. It is organized by siderweb – The Italian steel community, the major Italian online news site specialized on the steel industry. Digital Magics is the main Italian business incubator, which supports startups on an industrial scale in order to create successful projects, building and developing digital business.

The selected digital professionals are going to present their innovative products and services to a qualified public, to European and international decision makers in the steel industry, from production to distribution. They will join Made in Steel to create business and commercial relations and to discuss about the future of steelmaking.

The Digital Magics and Made in Steel “Steel on stage” contest is assigning a 5,000 euro reward to the winner and is open to Italian and international innovative startups and SMEs, developing solutions for the steel industry in four business areas:

Production innovation: technologies, monitoring systems, data management…

Sustainability: emissions and energy consumption reduction, waste management, circular economy…

Human resources: continuing education, research of new professional skills, safety…

Product: new ways to transform the raw materials, industrial design, art…

“Messaging apps and chatbots to improve the client service experience, big data analysis, cybersecurity, real time production control, tests and inspections to guarantee constant quality. These are only a few examples of the needs of steelmaking today, that can be fulfilled by digital startups, cross-fertilizating the steelmaking industry with 4.0 technologies, that in some cases have been developed in other industries and still are little known in ours – declares Emanuele Morandi, Chief and CEO of Made in Steel -. With our international event, we aim at creating a match between the steel industry request for innovation and environmental sustainability and the new services and technologies that make them possible”.

“Digital startups and SMEs are really capable of innovating not only the production process in the whole steel industry, but also of creating sustainable circular economy patterns, developing new product applications to improve safety and education – states Layla Pavone, Chief Innovation Marketing and Communication Officerofi Digital Magics -. Made in Steel is the driver for change and innovation in the steel industry and we are very proud to renew our partnership with the Conference & Exhibition, in the quest for the best digital startups.”
