In a context where economic indicators show a moderate, but still unstable, growth, and where European trade encounters difficulties because of the imposition of American duties, it is important for the steel industry companies to create opportunities of cohesion and exchange, consolidate networks and partnerships, not only at local level, but especially at European level.
In this perspective, Emanuele Morandi, Made in Steel CEO, and Francesca Morandi, Made in Steel council member, met with Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation on Monday 04 June at the European Commission.
“Commissioner Moedas showed great openness and willingness to listen to the demands of the steel industry and of its value chain, which Made in Steel will bring to innovA in order for it to confront with the great changes that new innovative processes are bringing to steel production, distribution and consumption – said Mr. Morandi -. His institutional support is a symbol of an urgent need; manufacture must open to innovation.”
The meeting aimed at bringing the mission of siderweb, Made in Steel and the new event innovA at the attention of the European Commissioner; innovation is a fundamental lever of development for the steel industry. It isn’t an abstract concept, but rather a solid will to promote knowledge and information in such a strategic sector for Europe.
Moedas showed a deep interest in this issue and confirmed its encouragement for innovA, the convention of innovation in the steel industry organized by Made in Steel (20-21-22 September, Brixia Forum – Brescia, Italy). An important institutional support, which further confirms the high caliber of the event.
