As Bavaria’s largest recycling company and steel manufacturer located north of Augsburg, Lech-Stahlwerke GmbH has been producing green steel for over 50 years. High recycling rate -- LSW employs almost exclusively recycled steel scrap as a source of iron. Climate-friendly transportation -- Most of the scrap that we employ to produce our raw steel originates in our region and more than 60% of it is delivered to us by rail. As a result, in 2021 we lowered our CO2 emissions by 18,968 tons (see our report “Climate-neutral by 2040” at www.locas-bayern.com/en. LSW produces about 1.1 million tons of EAF raw steel. Our steel bar production spans the production of high-quality engineering steel grades as well as concrete reinforcing steel (re-bars). We range in diameter from 28 to 130 mm and square bars from 50 to 120 mm We are a key supplier of the automotive industry and its subcontractors in Europe.
