Organizing a sustainable event means implementing strategies and practices that not only reduce environmental impact but also promote the well-being of the local community and encourage virtuous behaviors among exhibitors and visitors.
Since the last edition, Made in Steel has been certified by RINA for the sustainable design and management of the event in compliance with the standard ISO 20121. The 2025 edition of the Conference & Exhibition is also organized following this standard, demonstrating a growing commitment to reducing the environmental footprint and maximizing positive social impact.
Sustainability practices are continuously improving through the identification and monitoring of clear goals across all ESG areas. For the organization of this eleventh edition, specific environmental measures include promoting increasingly sustainable mobility and further reducing consumption.
To this end, agreements have been put in place to facilitate greener travel options to the exhibition (for more details, please refer to the How to Reach Us section).
On a social level, efforts are focused on inclusion, both in terms of access to the exhibition and as a key topic addressed in the Conference section to strengthen awareness within the steel industry supply chain. Finally, an updated governance approach is essential, ensuring ample attention not only to ESG topics but also to transparency, ethics, and responsibility towards exhibitors, visitors, and suppliers.
With this in mind, the Sustainability Policy has been updated. Since its first issuance, it has represented the organization's commitment to complying with all legal and voluntary requirements set by the standard and to continuously improving performance to achieve the defined objectives. Specifically, the social section has been expanded with a greater focus on respect for and promotion of Human Rights. On an environmental level, more attention has been given to a sustainable supply chain, while in terms of governance, Made in Steel has formalized its commitment to combating any form of corruption.
In line with the Code of Ethics adopted by siderweb and Made in Steel, the Organisation has decided to formalize its commitment to the protection of Human Rights through the introduction of a dedicated Policy.
The goal is to ensure that the event is fair and accessible and promote a positive impact throughout the supply chain, strengthening Made in Steel's commitment to dignified working conditions, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for all participants and stakeholders involved.
The introduction of the Human Rights Policy is fully aligned with the Organisation’s sustainability strategy and complies with the updates required by the ISO 20121 standard.
The principles on which the Policy is based have been selected following international, national, and internal regulations and reflect Made in Steel's concrete commitment to promoting Human Rights in every aspect of its activities. Specific principles have been chosen to align closely with the identity and mission of the Conference & Exhibition, as well as with its organizational structure.
The Human Rights Policy is structured around six fundamental principles:
1. Right to workplace safety
2. Dignified working conditions
3. Protection for vulnerable workers
4. Child protection and prevention of child labour
5. Non-discrimination and equal opportunities
6. Right to mobility and universal accessibility
Each principle is associated with at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, underlining Made in Steel's commitment to responsible growth that respects people.
The road to sustainability is a shared pathway.
