Rho (MI), 8 May 2025 – GMH Gruppe, Trafilix Industries, and Marcegaglia have been named the winners of the Made in Steel Awards 2025. The awards, presented by siderweb—organiser of the international Conference & Exhibition dedicated to the steel supply chain—honour exhibitors who stand out for their ability to communicate their message with originality and clarity, present their products and services effectively and innovatively, and show particular commitment to the sustainability of their exhibition design.

The Made in Steel Awards have been presented since the second edition of the event in 2007. This year, the awards were sponsored by BLM Group. For the second time, the Honourable Mention for Sustainability was awarded to the exhibitor that most effectively placed sustainability and circular economy at the heart of their exhibit. In assigning this recognition, the jury considered both the technical aspects of the set-up—such as the selection of materials, prioritisation of recycled and recyclable components, and the reuse of elements from previous events—and the quality of the narrative and visitor experience built around these values.

The Made in Steel Awards, true works of art in their own right, were designed by artist Ruth Beraha and draw inspiration from the uroboros—the ancient symbol of a snake biting its tail, representing transformation and rebirth. This emblem captures the endless cycle of matter, a concept ideally embodied by steel, a material that is 100% recyclable. The physical creation of the awards, involving the bending of steel tubes, was made possible using BLM Group equipment.

The installations were evaluated by a jury composed of Giorgio Guidi, Artistic Director of Made in Steel; Marco Citterio, former Managing Director of Brixia Expo – Fiera di Brescia; and Federica Barletta, Director of the Ncontemporary art gallery.

“This year, the theme of the event is ‘The Beauty of Steel’—a tribute to the beauty of the steel supply chain, which continues to evolve and envision the future together in order to stay competitive. We wanted to celebrate that spirit through this recognition of our exhibitors’ efforts, because it is the companies that make Made in Steel a success. Once again, the quality of the exhibition, the attention to detail in the stands, and the shared reflection on the state of the Italian and European steel industry are what define the strength of Made in Steel,” said Paolo Morandi, CEO of siderweb and Made in Steel

THE WINNERS – The Honourable Mention for Sustainability, the only category based on self-nomination, was awarded to GMH Gruppe. The German group successfully combined modular construction technologies in its exhibition space—technologies that are reusable and easily adaptable to a variety of event formats. This approach significantly reduces waste and shortens setup times. In its application, GMH Gruppe submitted multiple certifications for the stand’s structural components, including ISO 38200:2018 and ISO 14025, and highlighted its commitment to the EDG principles of the UN 2030 Agenda in managing the events it attends.

The Best Communication Stand award was given to Marcegaglia. The stand of the Mantua-based group impressed with its strong visual impact, achieved through a striking contrast between brightly coloured pop graphics in the upper section and a highly illuminated lower section—the first area that catches the visitor’s eye. This bold design made the stand instantly recognisable and visually distinctive. The project was led by architect Simone Micheli.

The Most Friendly Stand award went to Trafilix Industries. The stand stood out for its originality and creative appeal, thanks to its use of contemporary street art that fused art and industry. Trafilix collaborated with the True Quality cultural association, which promotes urban creativity, and involved six artists in painting themed panels showcased at the stand. The design successfully pushed creative boundaries, offering visitors a unique and engaging experience.

In addition to the three main awards, the jury also presented a Special Mention to Acciaierie Venete. The group impressed with the architectural composition of its stand, marked by a sophisticated interplay of materials—such as concrete and wood—and volumes, balancing empty and full spaces with great finesse. The result was a stand that exuded elegance and harmony, reflecting deep architectural knowledge and design expertise, which the jury commended.
