22 May 2018

Registrations are open

Today, 22 May, marks the opening of registrations for Made in Steel 2019, Southern Europe’s biggest Conference & Exhibition dedicated to the steel industry scheduled for 14 – 16 May 2019 – at fieramilano Rho and organized by siderweb.

The year prior to the event has opened with a “moderately positive” near-term outlook for the European and Italian steel industry. According to the siderweb Research Department, the steel community dedicated to news and economic analysis for the steel industry, in Q2 2018 “demand for steel grew, but at a slower pace than in the same period of 2017, due to slowing activity in almost all the steel use sectors.”

“The biggest risk for the stability of the European steel market are distortions in supply due to imports,” thinks the siderweb Research Department. The risk is exacerbated by the possible introduction on 1 June of 25% duties on steel imports into the United States.”

From January to March 2018, Italy produced 6.4 million tons of steel, a 3.7% improvement. This is the best performance of any of the big European producers (source: World Steel Association).

TOWARDS MADE IN STEEL 2019 – Against this background, more favourable than in previous years, a year ahead of the eighth edition, Made in Steel welcomes applications from exhibitors (bookings received by 31 October 2018 will enjoy an 8% discount).

The last edition, in 2017, saw an 18% growth in foreign exhibitors, and an increase in the internationalization of the exhibition which earned the title international trade fair from Regione Lombardia once again for the 2019 edition.

For the first time in its history of over a decade, Made in Steel will at last have a midweek schedule, opening on the Tuesday and closing on the Thursday. The location however will not change. In pavilions 22 and 24 of the fairgrounds, the same as the last edition, the major players of the steel industry will gather to do business and discuss the big issues facing the sector.

As always, the event will offer a rich array of content and conferences, which in 2019 will revolve around the topic of innovation, which is also having a profound impact on the steel industry. Made in Steel will stick to its winning formula, combining business with information and the transfer of knowledge.

Alongside the presence of the biggest international names in steel production, processing, commercialization and use, the event will represent an important opportunity to examine the key issues for the European steel market of today and tomorrow. The three-day fair will host conventions, events and seminars making Made in Steel the cultural nerve-centre of the international steel industry.
