Over the years, the steel industry has made major strides in automating material handling and storage processes. According to Pragma, however, much remains to be done in the field of intralogistics and further downstream, particularly in the steel transformation phase. This is where the industry’s next major challenges and opportunities will emerge in the years ahead.

Pragma, formerly known as Metalmeccanica Spaggiari, was founded in 1976 and is headquartered in Fontevivo, near Parma, Italy. The company designs, manufactures and installs automated storage systems and integrated intralogistics solutions aimed at optimizing material flows throughout the production cycle.

More recently, Endeavour, the holding company of which Pragma is part, announced the completion of a €3 million capital increase. The transaction brought two new industrial partners into the company’s shareholding structure: REFA Srl, the holding company of the Reggiani family, and VBS Srl Unico Socio, the investment holding company of Vittorio Cavirani. The move marks the beginning of a new phase for Pragma, with a focus on strengthening its international presence while further expanding its expertise and capabilities.

The company’s next milestone will be Made in Steel 2027, taking place from May 11 to 13 at Fiera Milano.
