Now under the leadership of the fourth generation of the family, Carutti is an established participant in Made in Steel. The company will return to the international event in May at a time of significant change in the market.
“Customers are increasingly looking for niche markets where higher value can be added,” said Efisio Carutti, the company’s sole director, in an interview with siderweb editorial team for Made in Steel. “In particular, interest in high-alloy steels, alloys and superalloys is growing. These materials are also used in the defence sector, where demand is already on the rise.”
Carutti also offered a critical assessment of the situation in Europe. In his view, major mistakes were made in Brussels in the decision to pursue electrification in the automotive industry, and the sector is now paying the price, with the risk of deindustrialisation looming.
As he explained, the jobs that remain will be highly specialised and increasingly technology-driven. For Carutti, the future lies in developing new products that competitors elsewhere have yet to replicate.
